Mothers Day Celebrations
Mothers Day celebrations are held across many countries, with days to honour motherhood dating back many centuries in some parts of the world. These celebrations are sometimes referred to by slightly different names; for example the traditional term Mothering Sunday in the UK where the special day for Mum’s always falls on the fourth Sunday in Lent – exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday. With Mothers Day just around the corner this year, taking place on Sunday 27th March 2022, how will you make this one that little bit special? Check out our top tips below to make Mothers Day 2022 one to remember!
1. Prepare a Special Lunch
After two extraordinarily difficult years, this may be one of the first opportunities that we can gather to celebrate with our Mum’s in relative safety following the vaccine rollout. Whether you’re a great cook or rely a little too much on the microwave, Mum is sure to appreciate the chance to put her feet up while you prepare a home cooked meal in her honour. If you’re feeling brave enough, why not invite over family and friends for a delicious Sunday roast!
2. Make a Handmade Card
Whilst Mum’s will always appreciate a heartfelt card chosen by you, a thoughtful handmade card is a little something unique and extra special. Plus designing and crafting the card yourself can be a whole lot of fun in itself!
3. Choose her Favourite Flowers
Mothers Day falls in early spring when we are often fortunate enough to have an abundance of beautiful, colourful spring flowers to decorate the home. Whilst expensive bouquets and arrangements are lovely, flowers do not have to be expensive. Presenting your Mum with a beautiful bunch of daffodils, irises or other spring favourites from the garden or local market is a thoughtful touch that is sure to make her smile.
4. Take her on a Day Trip
As many of us have probably spent a lot of time indoors over the past two years, why not take Mum out for the day to somewhere new or perhaps one of her favourite places? She is bound to appreciate the chance to get away from it all and have a few hours of relaxation. A day at a spa, walk in a countryside beauty spot or trip to the seaside – whatever you decide, Mum is bound to appreciate a great day out.
5. Find an Unusual Gift
With so many products to choose from when shopping for gifts in person or online, it’s sometimes difficult to know what to choose! Whatever you buy, Mums are bound to appreciate the gesture and your gift will be warmly received. Think about what your Mum would find useful or enjoy the most. Look out for a host of beautiful items from the many new crafters and suppliers that have sprung into life since the pandemic with original ideas – you will most likely find something unusual and unexpected outside of more mainstream retail outlets. Many products from independent retailers and producers also have fantastic environmentally sustainable benefits too!
